Alternative Winter Break -- Mayan Medical Aid in Guatemala

posted Oct 3, 2010, 2:14 PM by Jeffrey Baitis
Hello my fellow postbaccers,

Hope you all are having a great semester so far.

I wanted to let you all know about a winter break volunteer opportunity I am involved with for anyone interested in global health, clinical experience, and working on your Spanish skills. The clinic is located on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, and services a community of roughly 14,000 indigenous Mayan residents. Also, the program includes Medical Spanish classes taught by local doctors who will familiarize you with the terminology and etiquette involved with working in a Guatemalan clinical setting. For more information, check out the program's site:

Also, if you would like more detailed information than what is outlined on the site, feel free to reach out to me directly and I'd be happy to give you a more detailed breakdown.
